students explore concepts of energy transfer

By Brynn Harshbarger (STEM Program Instructor)

Will Allen Foundation collaborates with Clairton science teachers and VEX Robotics to create unique opportunities that engage students in weekly, hands-on lessons where students design, build, and test out their ideas. These lessons create opportunities for students to collaborate and creatively problem solve as well as build on STEELS aligned science learning.

Students build flower models
Students in 3rd grade built flower models to bring to life their plant science unit. They are learning about plant anatomy and what plants need to survive.
Students explore concepts of energy transfer
Students in 4th grade built pendulums to explore concepts of energy transfer. They are learning about kinetic and potential energy and how energy is transferred from one form to another.
Students explore Creature Feature Island
Welcome to Creature Feature Island! Students in 5th grade explore a fantasy island filled with unique and fascinating creatures. While these creatures may be fantasy, the lessons expand on learning related to animal habitats and adaptations.
