This fall marked an exciting new season for the Will Allen Foundation After School Program at Clairton City Schools. Our program offers Elementary and Middle school students a safe, supportive space to learn, create, and grow after school. Over the first few weeks, we have focused on building community, teamwork, and leadership skills.

To celebrate the start of the year, students and staff joined Lights On Afterschool, a nationwide organization that highlights the importance of after school programs. We held our own Glow Day celebration, where students shared how they “glow” after school through their creativity and kindness. One of their favorite activities was making “boo bags” filled with treats and notes to give to friends or family members.

As the school year progresses, our program will continue to foster curiosity, confidence, and meaningful connections among students. Each afternoon provides opportunities for growth through collaboration, creative exploration, and skill-building. The growth we’ve already seen in our students reminds us just how impactful a supportive and engaging after-school environment can be.
